The Sauna is nice.
It tends to be rather warm inside. I seem to sweat more than I normally would in a similar work out.
I don't use the pool.
I give this gym one star. I was formerly a member of Planet Fitness (obviously not a true gym). There are three reasons why I give one star. The biggest being the lack of paper towels. Visiting over several weeks at several different times, no matter when I was here I would typically have to go to another area to find towels. The men's bathroom never has any and the equipment in the bathroom doesn't look like it's ever been cleaned. This also goes for the gym equipment. I don't think the staff ever cleans it. By the end of the day most of the machines are disgusting. I wipe them down anyway before and after use. It would be nice to see an employee trying to make the gym look clean.
My first class trial was AM Yoga classes. The floors were not cleaned at all for the fact that this was the first class in the morning after all night's break and supposed to be clean, I mean real cleaning happens at night, right? I cleaned my own space but really during yoga you feel like you are touching places which are still dirty.
The Dumbbells on the rack are never racked in order and it's usually difficult to find two of the same weight.
I generally go in the morning around 5:30. How is a place dirty not long after it opens? This seems to be a problem from the evening crew and they are not cleaning and making sure the gym is in order for the next day.
This place do not have any cleanliness in order. I tried 5 days free pass to try group Yoga classes at Laurel, MD location. My first visit to this place and meeting Mike who is a manager didn't feel very warm and welcoming. Mike was constantly distracted when I was having a chat to be a future member with them. Asking for classes and more details he seemed to be really over occupied in his own thoughts which made me feel they don't need more customers.
* There is a general lack of cleanliness, like no one mops, sweeps or wipes down counters in the locker room or bathrooms.
Another issue is the equipment itself. I notice mostly on the treadmills that half have lose tracks. I don't believe the staff ever checks the machines unless someone tells them. Even then, if it still works but poorly it doesn't get fixed.
* The shower curtains have mold on them, as well as some shower walls. I've brought this up to the front desk multiple times and each time told that they would inform a manager.
I do not recommend this place even if it was free.
* There is no circulation in the men's locker room. For example, when I get out of the shower, I shouldn't start sweating as I get dressed due to lack of air running and circulation.
Some positives. The gym has an excellent selection of equipment.
Not sure how much folks clean before and after their use as there is nothing they offer for cleaning purpose. I mean real cheap Planet fitness offers at-least spray bottles and paper towels in the walk-able distance for before and after workout cleaning.
The water fountains + that area is filthy....looks like it has not been touched or cleaned for weeks and months. The water tastes like mixed with assorted chemicals. Water is the 1st thing gym should offer really well to hydrate.
My second class was a spin class really early AM. I loved the class and the spirit there but not knowing any better I ended up on a broken bike on the first day. Some one was nice enough to help me so I know it was broken( I had no idea on what to expect from bike functionalities). Next day tried spin class with different teacher ended up on another broken bike (talk about luck) which I had to switch. I realized there were few more broken ones right in the middle, why would you leave it such that it gets in use? Broken items should be kept aside or labeled at least if not fixed. Was really disappointed right there.
On another note I don’t know what other people are talking about when they say this club is dirty. I’ve never had an issue with that. There’s always people cleaning and there’s only so much the staff can do about the patron NEVER wiping down benches/machines.
* There seems to not be paper towels in the bathroom about 80% of the time I've been here.
This place is less than A Star rating in my opinion. I think gyms should be clean and inviting and doesn't have to be fancy in my view. This place has nothing to offer starting from customer service to actual service + the hygiene safety.
Not bad if you don't mind people not re-racking the weights and the dumbbells are all in the wrong place. The workers don't give 2 flying booties lmao
For the price this is a great gym. Staff is pretty friendly and I’ve never had an issue with long machine weight times. The pool is awesome and I love that it’s never crowded. The biggest issue I have with this gym is that so much of the equipment I want to use (kettle bells, TRX, boxes, foam rollers) are in the “personal training only” area. It’s frustrating considering almost every other LA fitness atleast has kettle bells out to use and for someone who is 5’1 it would be awesome to use the boxes to reach the pull up bar and for box jumps. I understand the frustration for the PTs having to put the equipment back but I wish we were atleast allowed to use the KBs and TRX.
This place is disgustingly dirty. I tried to just not let it bother me, but this morning, there were 3 cockroaches just crawling around by the lockers.
