Worst salon in Laurel my hair was dry and brittle. They can't style short hair . I should have known better when the owners hair was a mess she couldn't style mine smh

i love the way my aunty does my hair my aunt is the owner shanda

I have been to Shanda a few times, and every time she's done my hair, it has been exactly how I like my hair. EVERY time. I have natural, kinky-curly, type 4A hair. The first time I went was when Shanda took me in an emergency. I had taken a weave out on a saturday night, and discovered that my hair was so tangled that I was going to have to cut the weave out. I usually don't wear weaves, and now will never wear one again! I called every salon in Laurel, and Shanda was the only one who answered the phone on an early Sunday morning because her shop phone forwards to her cell phone. She told me to come in and she would fit me in around her other appointments. Her daughter saved my hair by gently pulling the cornrows out, and Shanda made it look perfect. It was healthy and much of my length was saved. Two years later, after having worn buns, twist-outs and other natural styles exclusively, I went back to Shanda, in very bad need of a trim, and she layered it very nicely. I was shocked when I looked in the mirror--it was full of body, and perfectly cut/layered in a way that preserved and showed off its length. I've NEVER been disappointed with how my hair looks when I leave her salon. I don't even have to go home and style it like I usually do with other salons. Now, the shop is not fancy or modern, but at least it's clean. They don't have an automated appointment system or anything like that, so I do call ahead to confirm appointments, expected services, etc. I had been going to places like Ulta and Cielo and I'm used to salons designed by interior designers with the latest chairs, equipment, etc.--but I'm happier here with the results. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that the salon could be more updated. I'm sure that will come with time and more clients.

THIS WAS THE WORST PLACE EVER!! SHENIQUA was ghetto and didn't welcome me when I came into the salon. I showed up for my appointment on time at 5 and she was doing another man's dreds and didn't even say sorry for the wait. Then I happened to ask what form of payment she accepts and she says cash only. Why she didn't tell me this on the phone when I made the appointment is beyond me. Then she asks, "Do I have to wash your hair too?" What!??!! Isn't this a hair salon?? Isn't that what you do? Then I had to go to the ATM to get money and tried calling her. She never answered my calls or texts but when I came back she was on the phone outside so clearly she got my messages. Then the shop owner who is her mother couldn't do my hair either because she said she wasn't as good at natural hair styles. Sheniqua proceeded to tell her that she wasn't going to do my hair again because she didn't have time!!!! WWWHHHAAATTT???? After you not being ready for my appointment, me having to go to an ATM, and you not calling me back, you have the audacity to not do my hair?? THIS IS THE MOST GHETTO, UNPROFESSIONAL, SELFISH, UNSATISFACTORY place of SO CALLED business that I have ever been to and I will NEVER go back and will tell anyone within my reach NEVER to go there!!!!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!! AND HER MOTHER, AKA THE SALON OWNER, was actually OK with her not doing my hair after all I went through!!! I wish they would put this ghetto establishment out of business!!!!!!!!!

my first experience was great. I took my 2 year daughter there and she got the 2 strand twist and I was very pleased. The ladies there was very nice and welcoming when I entered the salon I first a calmness. I will definitely be taking my daughter back.
